ELITE TEAM

The Elite team classes are by invite only and at the discretion of the coaching team. Gymnasts showing above average skill level and potential may be invited to attend these classes and their progression be closely monitored. Gymnasts in this stream train several hours a week and attend 3 terms a year, not taking a break for summer or other school holidays. All of these programs require gymnasts to be focused, disciplined and to have the ability to listen to corrections and apply them. To date our Elite program caters for girls women’s artistic Gymnastics (WAG) program.

At DP Gymnastics we have both a club team and an elite team WAG (Women’s Artistic Gymnastics). Our elite team compete in high level Gymnastics Ireland competitions called the ‘Plus Levels’ held in the National Indoor Arena three times a year. These groups start from 5yrs-7yrs which is the age bracket for entry into this program. Hours of training range from 7-16hrs per week and selection for this program is by talent ID. Coaches can recommend children from the DP progressive and Club team Program under talent ID for testing and trials.

The Elite Team also go forward for Irish squad selections via their competition results within the Plus levels. Currently we have 10 gymnasts on the various squads including the National development squad and Olympic Start Squad. This is a huge achievement for all involved as only the top few in each age group in the country are picked from trials to represent.

DAYS AND TIMES OF TRAINING ARE BASED ON LEVEL SELECTED AFTER COACH ASSESSMENT.
